Rust weakening cables and spring hardware in humid conditions
Why it happens here
Humidity and repeated moisture exposure can corrode exposed metal, especially on older doors with original hardware. Rust can hide beneath grime or around attachment points, so a cable may appear usable until strands begin to fail. Corrosion can also make a spring system harder to adjust safely.
Our approach
We inspect the full visible length of cables, spring attachments, drums, and hinges. If corrosion has compromised strength, we replace the affected part and check balance rather than relying on lubricant to conceal the wear. We test door travel before returning the system to normal use.
